Note: the Discuss, Contacts and Link Tracker Apps are also installed by default in new Enterprise databases.
Knowledge does not require Helpdesk. When you install Website you can share Knowledge to your Visitors, and when you install Helpdesk you can integrate your Helpdesk with both but this is optional.
Dependencies for Apps are shown on the Technical Info tab of the App via the Apps Menu (in Developer Mode).
